Goodbye, said the fox. And now here is my secret, a very simple secret. It is only with the heart that one can see rightly. What is essential is invisible to the eye.

I don’t really want to become normal, average, standard. I want merely to gain in strength, in the courage to live out my life more fully, enjoy more, experience more. I want to develop even more original and more unconventional traits.

If someone’s actions or words push a button within you or you have some kind of reaction, they are mirroring some energy that wants release or integration within you. If you have no reaction; it is theirs.
This is also true when you are touched deeply by someone’s Wisdom or Beauty or Love; they are mirroring to you what you are within.

I appreciate the value of looking at the question of whether my judgements about another are a reflection of parts of me that I don’t like and that I want to deny. Sometimes they are. At the same time, lets not throw reality out with the bath water. Sometimes our judgements are actually reflections of a conscious discernment process- we dislike certain qualities, actions, an absence of integrity- for legitimate reasons. The “mirror defence” (your reaction to another is merely a reflection back to you) was likely invented by gurus who wanted to get away with inappropriate behaviour. There is a meaningful difference between unconscious judgements and conscious discernment.

Our job is to love people. When it hurts. When it’s awkward. When it’s uncool and embarrassing. Our job is to stand together, to carry the burdens of one another and to meet each other in our questions.

As you dissolve into love, your ego fades. You’re not thinking about loving; you’re just being love, radiating like the sun.
